General Provisions
These examination regulations describe the procedures and conditions for the examination by AfterImage B.V. of its programs that have been classified in the Dutch Qualifications Framework (NLQF) and the related European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
Article 1. Purpose and Scope
- The purpose of these regulations is to ensure the quality and independence of the examination process.
- The regulations apply to all summative exams that are part of programs leading to formal certification.
Examination Board
Article 2. Composition and Appointment
- The Examination Board consists of at least three members, including a chairperson and a secretary.
- Members are appointed by the governing body of AfterImage B.V., based on their relevant knowledge and expertise.
- Individuals working for AfterImage B.V. cannot be members of the Examination Board.
- At least one member shall have specific knowledge of testing and assessment procedures, evidenced by, e.g., possession of the Dutch BasisKwalificatie Examinering (BKE) or an equivalent certification.
- Members are appointed for a two-year term which can be extended once, for another two-year term.
- The Examination Board meets:
- At least once every year to evaluate, and report on, the quality of the examination process.
- Whenever exams and assessments, the method(s) of administering them, and their pass marks need to be established.
Article 3. Independence
- The Examination Board operates independently of the educational process.
- Individuals involved in delivering training shall not be involved in creating, establishing, and assessing exams or reflection reports.
Article 4. Tasks and Responsibilities of the Examination Board
- Establishing exams and assessments, the method(s) of administering them, and their pass marks.
- Ensuring the quality of exams and assessments.
- Handling requests and objections.
- Ensuring compliance with these regulations.
- Reporting on the quality of the examination process.
- Taking measures in the event of irregularities and/or fraud.
Exams
Article 5. Examination
- Exams and assessments are based on the learning outcomes established for the training program and assess whether candidates demonstrably master these outcomes.
- Exams and assessments may consist of:
- Written tests, e.g., multiple choice exams.
- Oral exams.
- Other forms of assessment relevant to the learning outcomes.
- The Examination Board determines how exams and assessments can be administered and what the passing criteria are.
Article 6. Assessment Criteria
- Assessment criteria are derived directly from the learning outcomes.
- Clear assessment criteria are established for all exams and assessments.
- Assessment criteria are known to candidates in advance.
Article 7. Validity and Reliability
- Exams are designed to be both valid (they test what they are supposed to test) and reliable (they are consistent in assessment).
- Standardized assessment tools are used to ensure objectivity.
Article 8. Results and Certification
- For multiple-choice exams administered online, candidates will receive a provisional result immediately after the exam, and a final result within ten (10) working days.
- For all other exams and assessments, candidates will receive their results within twenty (20) working days.
- Diplomas that can be obtained after passing one or more exams include, if the program has been classified, the indication of the established NLQF/EQF level.
Article 9. Archiving and Transparency
- All test results and other relevant documents are retained for at least six years.
- Students have the right to access their test results.
- The privacy of candidates is ensured.
Fraud
Article 10. Fraud Procedure
- If fraud is suspected during the administration of an exam or assessment, the student will be notified. The Examination Board will then determine whether fraud has actually occurred.
- If it is determined that fraud has occurred, the Examination Board may deprive the student involved of the right to take one or more examinations for a period to be determined by the Examination Board, but not exceeding one year. In cases of serious fraud, the Board of AfterImage B.V., at the recommendation of the Examination Board, may permanently terminate the student’s registration for the program.
- If it is determined that fraud has occurred, the Examination Board will inform the student involved. The Examination Board will include at least the following information:
- the exam or assessment in which the fraud was discovered;
- the nature of the fraud, including the evidence leading to the determination of fraud; and
- the associated sanction.
Objections and Appeals
Article 11. Objection Procedure
- Candidates can file an objection within ten (10) business days after the results have been announced.
- Objections must be submitted in writing, in English, to the Examination Board.
- The Examination Board decides on the objection within four (4) weeks.
Article 12. Appeals Procedure
- An appeal can be lodged against decisions on objections.
- Appeals are handled by an independent appeals committee, the members of which are not employed by or otherwise affiliated with AfterImage B.V.
- The decision of this Appeals Committee will take place by means of binding advice.
Quality Assurance
Article 13. Training Evaluation
- Feedback from training participants is systematically collected by the training organization(s).
- An internal evaluation of the collected feedback takes place at least once a year.
- If the results of the evaluation give reason to do so, improvement measures are taken.
Article 14. Examination Quality
- Feedback from exam participants is systematically collected at the end of every exam.
- An internal evaluation of the collected feedback as well as the results of test and item analysis takes place at least once a year.
- If the results of the evaluation give reason to do so, improvement measures for the exam(s) involved are taken.
- The quality of the examination process is periodically evaluated by external auditors.
- This evaluation includes an assessment of the independence of the Examination Board.
Final Provisions
Article 15. Amendments
- Changes to these regulations are communicated in a timely manner.
- Changes do not adversely affect ongoing examination procedures.
Article 16. Unforeseen Circumstances
In cases not covered by these regulations, the Examination Board decides.
